July 2026: NEWSLETTER

A word from our CEO

Summer is officially in full swing here at iMedia Software, and what a month it’s been!

Between wrapping up prep for our upcoming trip to Texas, watching the World Cup take over every TV in the office, and juggling summer schedules at home (yes, some of us are dodging bedtime negotiations and “I’m bored” right alongside you), July has been anything but quiet.

As always, I want to thank our incredible team and our clients β€” some of whom have trusted us for years β€” for continuing to make this work so rewarding. We wouldn’t be here without you.

Wishing everyone a great rest of the summer,
Alex

Highlights

Congratulations to Spain β€” World Cup Champions! ⚽πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ

The FIFA World Cup craze is (finally) behind us, and what a tournament it was! A huge congratulations to Spain and all of their fans on claiming the 2026 World Cup title with a hard-fought 1-0 extra-time win over Argentina at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Well played to every team and every fan who made this summer’s tournament one to remember.

By the Numbers β€” Viewership

  • The 2026 Final was projected to draw a global TV audience of around 1.8 billion viewers β€” one of the most-watched sporting events on the planet.
  • Opening matches across the three host nations (USA, Canada, and Mexico) pulled in more than 50 million combined viewers, a record-breaking start for soccer in North America.
  • The USA–Belgium Round of 16 match became the most-watched soccer telecast in U.S. history, with a final Nielsen count of 33.09 million viewers on Fox (peaking at 41 million) plus another 12.9 million on Telemundo/Peacock β€” nearly 46 million total for that single match.
  • The Semifinals averaged a combined 25.6 million viewers per match across Fox and Telemundo/Peacock β€” putting them ahead of the NBA Finals and in range of NFL Conference Championship numbers.

(Official Nielsen numbers for Sunday’s Final were still being finalized as of this writing. Pre-match predictions had it at roughly 35 million on Fox and 22 million on Telemundo/Peacock, which would make it the most-watched soccer match in U.S. history.)

Fun Facts for Broadcast Nerds Like Us πŸŽ₯

  • Host Broadcast Services (HBS) deployed up to 45 cameras per match β€” including polecams, cablecams, RefCams, and 360-degree cameras β€” across all 104 matches.
  • The entire tournament spanned 16 host cities across 3 countries and generated an estimated 9,000 hours of content.
  • The central hub was the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) in Dallas, TX, where nearly 200 broadcasters produced their own coverage and highlights.
  • HBS ran 16 separate dedicated production crews β€” one per host city β€” to reduce travel across such a massive footprint.
  • A dedicated post-production hub in London supported behind-the-scenes footage, fan experiences, and team arrivals.

It’s a good reminder of just how much technology, coordination, and sheer people-power goes into broadcasting a global event. Of course, not every broadcast needs a 45-camera rig and a crew of hundreds β€” that’s part of why we built iMediaCam, so smaller teams (or even a single person) can stream and broadcast with the polish of a full production crew behind them. Big show or small, it’s all about making great broadcasts possible.

πŸš€Β Summer’s in, School’s Out, and We Feel You

With the kids officially out of school, things around the (virtual) office have gotten a little louder β€” and we mean that in the best way. Several of us on the iMedia team are parents too, so if your summer has included juggling camp schedules, “are we there yet,” and impromptu Zoom cameos from little ones, know that we see you and we’re right there with you. Here’s to a summer full of both productivity and popsicles. 🍦
